Gender Removal from the Social Security Number Verification Service (SSNVS)

The verification of gender is an optional part of the verification process since the release of SSNVS in June 2005. Effective September 24, 2011, Social Security will no longer use gender as part of the SSNVS verification process. For direct input users, the gender input fields will no longer appear on the SSNVS SSN Verification input screen.

Receive an IRS Wage Levy for an Employee?

It is important not to disregard a wage levy from the IRS or you may find your company liable for the employee’s delinquent taxes. Recently, a corporation that failed to obey an IRS wage levy on one of its employees was liable for the employee’s delinquent taxes and for a penalty under Code Sec. 6332(c)(2). The government complied with the notice requirements of Code Sec. 6331(a) by sending notices of levy to the corporation’s correct address and also served the final demand for payment on the corporation.
